John has over 15 years’ experience creating original surface pattern designs for the fashion, interiors and lifestyle industries. Working at the intersection of traditional craftsmanship and digital innovation, his designs typically begin as hand-painted artworks, drawings or collages before being transformed into refined, seamless repeat patterns for a wide range of commercial applications.
Alongside his design practice, John has developed a specialist expertise in colour, trend forecasting and print direction, enabling him to create collections that are both creatively distinctive and commercially relevant.
John has undertaken commissioned projects for leading international brands including Uniqlo, Phillip Lim, Walmart, H&M, Fïnery and Guy Laroche, among many others.
He is also the founder and Creative Director of the internationally renowned design studio About Pattern, which continues to collaborate with global brands, retailers and manufacturers to develop innovative print and surface design collections.
